  Family History:
  
  First Mother (Vardiss Female) and First Father (Kinbak Male) arrive upon the Isle and take shelter in the vocalo's shallow caves, out of reach of the local apex predators, called "Jacklehounds" by our people.
  
  First Father begins digging out the Great Labrinth while First Mother defends against the Jacklehounds' attacks.
  
  The First Brood is born! Two sons and two daughters- First Son, Second Son, First Daughter, Second Daughter.
  
  First Daughter and First Son have a litter together, resulting in the first All-Echeron brood, three brothers named Night, Cave and Deep.
  
  Second Daughter and Second Son have a litter together, resulting in four Vardiss daughters; Vine, Fern, Root and Leaf.
  
  First Mother and First Father have their second brood- two Kinbak sons and one Vardiss daughter. Names unknown.
  
  The Echeron Brothers take their Vardiss cousins as mates- Root and Leaf share Night, and they are the first polyamorous marriage on record.
  
  First Father and First Daughter produce the Night Queen and Day King siblings- two Echerons, male and female respectively.
  
  Legends state that there were only 50 members to the family, mostly yearlings, when the Great and Final Battle occured. For five days and four nights, Day King and Night Queen lead their family into a bloody battle against the Jackelhounds. It is during this legendary war that the First Mother and First Father lose their lives in battle. Day and Night take up the place as leaders for the family, and with their leadership, the battle is won by the fifth dusk.
  
  Jacklehounds are soon confirmed to be extinct, with only a small few pups remaining under the watchful eyes of the family. These pups are castrated and are allowed to grow up alongside the family, until they pass from natural causes. During this time, they are treated as pets or slaves.
  
  The last Jacklehound passes away from old age years later. The family is thriving by this point and upon its passing, the highest members of the family declare it illegal to own another living creature, be it by debt or otherwise.
  
  The Great Council is formed by the votes of the family. The First Broods make up its majority, with one of each bloodline represented annually, chosen by their peers.
  
  The Council and its members' families become high class citizens compared to the rest of the family clan. A social structure is cemented into place, with three tiers- High, Middle and Low.
  
  Breedings amongst the family are limited to established members and are regulated selectively for appearances and attributes needed by choice of the council. Any other pairings producing pups are considered illegal- illegal pairs and their litters are casted to the outskirts with the Low Classed members of the clan, where they're forced to build their own dens and shelters on the island- no longer allowed inside the volanic labrinth the rest of the clan calls home.
  
  High Class moves into the center tunnels and separates from the rest of society. Middle Class are left isolated in the outer halls and higher levels.
  
  Low Class citizens begin forming their own society, separate from the Clan's laws. This Sub-Order has three rules- Reject the System, Reject Promotion, Do not lay with a Brother or Sister blood. These laws allow for a more natural gene pool to develop, and soon inbreeding is no longer acceptable amongst Low Class citizens.
  
  Middle and High Class Citizens continue to interbreed specifically for appearances. They become vain and relish the luxury of their bountiful lives. Their working class are paid well and share in the luxury, despite providing for their superiors daily.
  
  The Council passes a law that makes Council Business completely classified- regular members of the Society are no longer privy to the going-ons behind closed doors.
  
  Opinions on the new law begins to divide the society into two- those who either don't care or approve of the new council law decide to defend it by force against the opposition. Protests are held, fights break out and the Council puts an end to it.
  
  All opposition are sent to the Low Class areas as punishment- but not before the males are castrated, to prevent breeding. Their families are forced to stay behind and if not already, become a part of the work force- whether they want to or not.
  
  A new law is passed. Protests are declared illegal, by punishment of complete banishment or life isolation. Any who protest any new laws are forced off the island itself, or into the deepest holds of the labrinth, to rot in total darkness. This is the final law passed by the council and, fearing for their families and lives, no one dares protest again.
  
  Life INSIDE the labrinth becomes eerily calm. All manner of arguments are whispered behind closed doors, and false smiles are worn by all. Soon, they all seem to forget that the laws were ever any different- they fool themselves into being blissfully ignorant of anything but their own inner circles. Fashion becomes the center of their world, with no attention paid to any of the working or low class members. The Council takes on a new entity of its own, a Godly Force to the Middle and High class citizens.
  
  Religion becomes a center point to the Outer Rim (Low Class) wolves, who begin to worship the sun and its light, as it is what separates them from the spawn inside the caves. Echeron amongst the Outer Rim members are very rare and are not appealing to the vardiss females.
  
  Chronic and his family are from the Outer Rim. They are peaceful village folk who took up their own shelther amongst the coastal population. Fishing, Medicine, Bird Hunting, and Hand Crafting with wood or stone are common practices here. Because they're at the far edge of society, they rarely hear or care about the drama inside the labrinth.
  
  Rasta, Molly and Reggae would have grown up playing amongst coastal cliffs and sparse tropical forests. Their home was a deep, spiraling den that had rooms jutting off of the core tunnel. They would've been a tight knit family, with many extended members- cousins, aunts, uncles- living in the same area. Values include realistic and stragistical thinking, family loyalty and honest good (so like, no deception or betrayals, do good where you can, don't skip out on good deeds for no good reason, ect).
  
  
  General Cultural Pros:
  • Opposable Digits are an island-wide trait that is almost signature of the First Parents, who had both had this mutation. Not physically different by sight alone, most of the Ilse's wolves have flexible toes that can rotate enough to manipulate at varying levels of dexterity.
  • Females are ALWAYS vardiss.
  • Males are either Kinbak or Echeron.
  ? Rasta's family only have Kinbak in recent generations- the only Echeron to date would've been a great great grandfather or something.
  • Coastal families tend to be feline-inspired, while inner circle families tend to be dog-inspired. Notable domestic mutations are common amongst the inner circle (curly fur, folded ears, ect). Inland families tend to be a mix of both.
  • The Sun King was believed to have risen into the sun after death and become a part of the diety they now simply call The Sun.
  • Pretty much the same as above, The Moon Queen followed her brother into the sky after dieing of a broken heart from losing him.
  • Inbreeding is in. Seriously.
  ? The Low Class / Outer Rim / Coastal families have rejected this part and instead discourage inbreeding- though it is not punishable, nor is it really unheard of.
  • Arranged Marriages / Pairings were often done to produce desirable traits. Even as far out as the Coast, this is common practice and rarely to pairings form out of love or affection.
  ? Chronic's family is no exception.

  THE SINKING

  It would've been into their second year when the island broke apart and disappeared beneath the waves of the sea. The first warning would've been smoke rising up through the labrinth tunnels. The inner circle would've fled or died trying to flee the toxic cloud of ash and dust.
  
  Then the volcano would errupt only an hour after the first plumes of smoke. The errupton would cause an earth quake the likes of which none on the island had experienced before. The earth literally cracks apart, wrenching homes and even wolves from their place and into watery graves below. Eventually, the land would simply topple and give until, as if made of gravel, it'd dissolve below what paws remained. All survivors would be cast out to sea.
  
  This takes only a day. That morning, the island's there- that evening, it's gone without a trace.

  TERMS and PHRASES
  
  "Inner Circle" The Council and its families.
  
  "Labrinth" The tunnel systems inside the volcano, where most of the population resides.
  
  "Outer Rim" The Low Class members of society.
  
  "The Society" The island's whole population.
  
  "Working Class" Often Middle Class, or younger siblings of High Class families, who work for their luxury.
  
  "High Class" Those who never work a day in their lives, often more concerned with appearances and gossip than anything else. Very pretty creatures, often dog-like in appearance.
  
  "Middle Class" Less pretty, less luxurious, living higher than their peers in the labrinth, and often what makes up most of the working class wolves. They have a little more value for hard work, but not by much.
  
  "Low Class" Members of society who live outside the labrinth. They reject the values of their subterrainian peers, opting instead for a more natural lifestyle. Often farming families or other modest working folk.
  
  "Coastal" Members of society who live on the very outer edges of the Isle. They are often fishers and crafters, and make long distance trips around the island in order to trade their wares. Coastal Families are often considered a class all their own.
